About the Zine

The Intransigent Whimsy Zine espouses positivity, fun, and inspiration while remaining nonreligious and apolitical. The content is PG-13 in nature, but nothing in the issues could be described as controversial.  It is published monthly, copied on recycled paper and left in public places for people to enjoy. It is also snail mailed in a decorative envelope each month to those who subscribe.

What people say about the Zine:

  • I love, love, love your newsletter!
  • My whole family loves this. Genuinely.
  • I didn't realize how badly I needed this.
  • The Zine is so inspiring. It's nostalgic but also feels fresh and radical.
  • Please tell me there will be more issues, because it is delightful.
  • Thank you for reminding me that fun is A Thing.

Submission Guidelines

  • I will accept: cool JPEG photos, flash fiction, short poetry, dumb jokes, the name of your favorite dinosaur, questions for which you'd like snarky but compassionate life advice, JPEGS of your artwork. Note that there is a NO GENERATIVE Ai POLICY and that submissions MUST be human-created.
  • Space in the Zine is very limited, so acceptance will be based on submission quality, available space, and how well it fits the vibe of the Zine. Decisions will be at my sole discretion, though I spent years as a professional editor and hope folks will trust my judgment.
  • The Zine is positive, inspirational, fun, and based in kindness and community. Content is apolitical and non-religious, and rated PG-13. Use the motto, "Whimsy, art, humor, heart" to guide you.
  • The Zine is usually ready to go to print the second week of each calendar month, to publish on or around the 15th of that month. If you have a submission intended for a specific month, please submit it by the 15th of the month before the month in which you would prefer that your content appear. If your submission can be used at any time, it will be held for use in a future issue, if accepted.
  • Email submissions to intransigentwhimsy@gmail.com. Include the name you would like to be credited as. Note that submissions cannot currently be paid. Hopefully this changes in the future as the publication scales and grows!
